Unique Wedding Favors

by: Corpus Christi Weddings

Weddings favors are a souvenir for your guests to take home and remember your wedding by. There are two different categories of wedding favors, each of which presents an opportunity to add your own unique touch that symbolizes your special day. Each also includes its own costs and level of personal attention.

The first wedding favor category can also be called thank-you gifts. These are special presents bought by the couple and given to members of their wedding parties, and to people who contributed to their wedding in a special way (such as with special music, the master of ceremonies, and ushers). There are a variety of ways to say a unique thank you to these individuals. Unlike the guest wedding favors, which by the necessity of quantity and distribution are not personalized, the wedding favors for participants can and should include a personal message. Simply engraving their names with a thank you on their favors will suffice.

As for the favor itself, you will want to spend some time thinking about what unique favor best fits both the person you will be giving it to and that reflects your relationship with that person. The groom, for example, might want to give the members of his party pint glasses, bottle openers, or small tool sets. The bride’s party might receive glass vases, handbags, or candle holders.

One unique wedding favor idea is to have everything at the table as a wedding favor. Flower arrangements and vases or pots, tiny tins of candy, even cutlery and plate ware can be used to commemorate the day. If you want to go this route, a good idea is to have guests receive an actual (and clean!) plate or cutlery set when their used ones are taken away by the catering staff. Embroidered napkins and engraved napkin rings can also be a nice touch, but make sure that you provide paper ones for the actual meal.

Weddings around holidays offer a good opportunity to give the guests a unique wedding favor. Engraved ceramic or glass Easter eggs can be a beautiful commemoration of a springtime wedding. Small silver hearts or heart shaped candy boxes are perfect for a wedding close to Valentine’s Day, and even Halloween offers its own opportunities for the uniquely carved wedding favor in the shape of a pumpkin. If you go with a holiday theme for your wedding favors, though, make sure your date falls before or on the actual holiday, or they may appear to be tacky.

With any wedding favor, the truly unique part is that it is from your wedding. Your wedding favors can be made unique by simply putting the date and your names on the wedding favors that you choose.
