Wedding Photographer - The Most Important Wedding Professional
by: Corpus Christi Weddings
Choosing the right photographer is an important decision, since the wedding photos are how you'll be able to relive your wedding for years to come. Knowing what you are looking for and the right questions to ask will make your search much easier.
First, think about what look you want to see in your wedding pictures. Are you looking for very traditional, posed portraits, or would you like a more informal album with a lot of candid shots? Do you want color pictures or does the black and white look appeal to you?
Interview Potential Photographers
Once you have a mental image of what you are looking for, make a list of photographers. Check with friends who've recently been married for references, or go to a wedding show. Make an appointment with each photographer and ask to see samples of their work.
Try to see an entire album from a wedding, and not just selected shots from many weddings. Ask questions about how long they've been in the business and how many weddings they have done.
He or she should also be willing to give you a list of references. It's important to actually call these references. Ask if the photographer was on time, appropriately dressed, and not disruptive. Find out if he or she stayed close to their quote, and if there were any problems.
Finalizing the Details
Once you've selected a photographer, review their package options and choose the one that gives you the best combination of photos for your price range. Finalize any details with the photographer, including who will actually take the pictures, and in what format. More photographers are shooting in digital formats now, so ask about getting original digital files as well as your completed album.
It helps to give your photographer a list of specific pictures you want taken, as well as a list of pictures you don't want. Agree on the number of pictures to be taken, the number of proofs you will receive, and the date when they will be ready. Talk about when you'll receive ordered photos and your completed album, and what the final cost will be. Ask about additional fees such as overtime or reorders.
Your photographer should have a contract and agree to everything in writing. Only sign the contract if you feel completely comfortable with every part of it, as well as with each member of the studio staff. Pay your deposit as required by the contract, and keep a copy for your records.
Once all the tuxedos are returned, the thank you notes are written, and the honeymoon is over and done, your wedding photo album is your memento of the day. It is worth all your efforts to select a photographer who will skillfully document the wedding day of your dreams.
