Planning Your Honeymoon

It's easy to overlook the planning required for a honeymoon in the rush and fun of planning a wedding. However, by the time the wedding is over, you'll need some time away to relax and enjoy time together. The honeymoon is a perfect time to create memories that will last a lifetime.

The bride and groom should talk about what they want in a honeymoon. Before you even talk about a budget, decide what type of honeymoon you want. Are you dreaming of a private and luxurious pampering experience, or are you ready for an adventure? Are you thinking beach or mountain? Water or snow? Once you agree on the type of getaway, you can start talking about where.

Some couples prefer exotic locations or famous international destinations. This might be a perfect time to take a long cruise, go on an African safari, or explore the Australian Outback. If your choice (or budget!) is for something closer to home, consider a cabin in the Rockies or a bungalow on one of our many beautiful beaches.

Visit An Experienced Travel Agent

Once you have an idea of what type of honeymoon you are looking for and where you'd like to go, visit a good travel agent. They can help you find good deals, and might have ideas for places or trips you hadn't thought of. Many agents specialize in a specific type of travel, so find one who's an expert in your type of trip.

Make The Reservations

After you've found the perfect location that still meets your budget, you need to make reservations, pay deposits, and get tickets. Cash in frequent flyer miles if you can. Don't forget a rental car. If you're going overseas, allow plenty of time to get a passport if you don't already have one.

Make Sure To Pack Well

As your wedding date nears, plan your wardrobe and do any shopping for clothing or active wear you'll need for your destination. Make sure your luggage is in good shape. Include all your must haves, such as, medication, glasses, and required identification. Arrange to have your mail stopped and give keys to a trusted friend to check on your home. And then… enjoy! You deserve the relaxation!
